What's old is new again

This is interesting: A company called Rain Tube is marketing an eponymous product designed to keep stuff out of our gutters. The site is very nice, and shows all kinds of info about the environmental impact of recycled plastics and various related topics, and even goes so far as to call it a patented process. It looks awfully similar to black plastic weeping tile pipe? This friendly old 'Colonel Sanders' type took some weeping tile, jammed it 'professionally' into his gutters and started a business to corner the market. Brilliant. Except that it looks exactly like he took some weeping tile and jammed it in his gutters... If it weren't for the internet, how would this product be marketed? Would stores simply put this 'Rain Tube' in the roofing section and tell people it was a new product... http://www.raintube.com/howitworks.html
