Why do we hate Sarah Marshall? Who is she?

On the Subway this afternoon I saw a poster with what looked like a hand-graffitied note to an ex-girlfriend. It said "I'm SO over you Sarah Marshall!". There was also a smaller inscription with ihatesarahmarshall.com It worked. I typed the URL into my blackberry for later (since I was in fact riding the subway at the time) and when I got home I checked it out. It's a FAKE BLOG written as though the character were a real person, ultimately hoping that the reader connects the dots and visits the site for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, (a new movie from the guys who made 40 year old virgin).

As far as viral campaigns go, it's not bleeding edge, but neither are the average Toronto subway clientèle, so I think we're good. What I like most is that they took the fake as far as they did. To the point where they created a fakeNBC lineup site with 'Crime Scene' (Fake Sarah Marshall's Fake Show). All the faking fakeouts are actually cool. There's even a fakeFan Site for fake Sarah Marshall. At the end of the day, all the domains (real and fake) are registered to the same place...

UPDATE:

Peter Bretter (the character) also has a Flickr page.
